The Boston Celtics took a 3-2 lead in the NBA Finals on Monday night with a dominant 106-88 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. The Celtics closed the first quarter on a 9-0 run and never looked back, leading by as many as 20 points in the second half.

Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 24 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Jaylen Brown added 20 points, and Marcus Smart chipped in 18 points. The Celtics shot 51.4% from the field and 38.9% from three-point range.

The Mavericks were led by Luka Dončić, who finished with 23 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. However, Dončić was just 9-of-24 from the field and 2-of-10 from three-point range. The Mavericks shot just 40.8% from the field and 28.6% from three-point range.

The Celtics will now have a chance to close out the series in Game 6 on Thursday night in Dallas. The Mavericks will need to win Game 6 to force a Game 7 back in Boston.
