Czech Republic hold Portugal in Euro 2024 opener

Portugal began their Euro 2024 campaign with a 0-0 draw against the Czech Republic in Leipzig on Tuesday. Cristiano Ronaldo started the game as captain and played the full 90 minutes but he failed to score in his first match at a major international tournament since leaving Manchester United. The match was a cagey affair with few clear-cut chances. Portugal had the better of the possession but they struggled to break down a well-organized Czech defense. The result leaves Portugal in third place in Group F, behind Spain and Turkey. The Czech Republic are bottom of the group after their 2-0 defeat to Spain in their opening match.
